Located in the vibrant heart of Echo Park at 1455 Sunset Blvd, Short Stop stands as a beloved bar that has woven itself into the cultural fabric of Los Angeles nightlife for over two decades. This isn’t just any watering hole; it’s a dynamic gathering place where community, music, and memorable nights come together under one roof.
Stepping into Short Stop, you instantly sense the energy—a blend of laid-back lounge vibes and electrifying dance floor buzz. The bar’s expertly curated menu offers a distinctive mix of beers such as Miller High Life, Coffee Stout, and the ever-iconic Pabst Blue Ribbon, alongside expertly crafted cocktails like the zesty Lemon Drop and the classic Margarita. Not to be missed is the Al Pastor, an intriguing nod to local flavors, complementing the drinks menu and elevating your experience with a hint of savory delight.
Music is the heart and soul here, and patrons rave about the ever-changing nightly themes. From house beats and R&B grooves to hip hop, disco, and Motown classics, the soundtrack keeps the vibe fresh, inclusive, and undeniably danceable. As longtime guest Russo Mutuc shares, "Once the DJ turns up the music, the dance floor is jammed packed," making Short Stop an essential spot for both chilling with friends or cutting loose on the dance floor.
What truly sets Short Stop apart is its warm, welcoming community spirit. Regulars like Eric Cervantes celebrate it as “an essential cornerstone of Echo Park,” a place alive with good vibes and great music long before the neighborhood began buzzing. The staff enhances this inviting atmosphere—whether it's the friendly bartenders who pour with care or the “hella cool” and professional security team that keeps things safe and comfortable, as Kennedy Barajas notes.
While parking can prove a challenge, as Jocelyne Portillo mentions, the energy inside more than compensates. The seamless blend of excellent service, a lively crowd, and the eclectic mix of tunes creates an experience you won’t easily forget. Whether you’re arriving early to avoid the lines or dropping in for a spontaneous night out, Short Stop promises good times, memorable encounters, and a true taste of Los Angeles nightlife culture.
20+ years been coming to short stop. Always good times here. I miss seeing the old bartenders and bouncers I use to see a lot many years ago. Get there early to avoid the lines. The Short Stop has been an essential cornerstone of Echo Park long before I ever moved to the area. It's a bar that is teeming with good vibes and great music. Dance Yourself Clean first began on the hollowed dance floor that many a feet stepped to. Every night has a different theme. Be it house music, R & B, hip-hop, disco, motown, you name it. They have it. The Stop is always a reliable place to go if you run into a dead end as far as night plans are concerned. It's a straightforward place. No frills. Not huge on pomp, but it makes up for it in energy! This is a favorite dance spot for many LA locals and dance lovers alike. They're neon sign says Dancing is evil, and if that be the case, I'll stick to being a regular, old-fashioned villain. Update: The Stop is still banging and slanging tunes for you goons to get out and groove and move to.
The security guards and bouncers were hella cool and the dj was good! And the bar tender I didn’t get her name but she had short blonde hair she was amazing!
Been here a couple times with my boyfriend and the drinks are good and music is always on point and service is good as well. Can’t wait to return. Only thing is parking is bad but you eventually find a spot
